Hello, Utah!
For those who don’t know me, my name is Patrick Smith; I was a freelance photojournalist based out of Baltimore, Md., but yesterday I accepted the offer for the open staff position at The Daily Herald.
I was born and raised in Baltimore and excited for the change. Not sure how I’ll deal not being in the city with the most murders per capita (hahaha), but I know I’ll love it.
Thanks to David Ryder (one of my teammates from the Eddie Adams Workshop) for showing me this blog, too.
Be sure to say “Hey” if you see me on assignment, and I’ll be sure to the same.
Also, if you have any suggestions on areas in SLC to live, or looking for a roommate for a month or two until I find my own pad, please feel free to e-mail, AIM or call me. That would be greatly appreciated.

Patrick;
Welcome to Utah. Not sure I am really allowed to say that since I am not a native (moved from California a few years ago). It’ll be great having a new shooter to meet on assignments. And great to see that anyone is filling positions these days.
Welcome Patrick! I’ve heard rave reviews about your work and look forward to checking out your site when I get a minute.
So will I get to meet my replacement before I leave?
Mario,
I get into Utah on Aug. 10, so if you’re around Aug.10 or Aug.11, I will see you. Otherwise, feel free to visit my cardboard box I’ll be living in until I find an apartment. Hahaha.
Also, are you leaving Utah? Let me take over your pad! Seriously, I am desperate at this point to find an apartment.
Cheers!
