Evil external hard drive drama. please help.

Hey all,
I ran in to some drama this weekend with my external hard drive, as I was getting things ready to burn backup dvds my laptop stopped recognizing the external hard drive. I’ve tried: replacing the cord, checking it on a second computer, and reinstalling the hard drive and nothing has worked. I’m not to concerned, 99% of the photos that are on it are backed up elsewhere but I’m still interested in getting the photos off of that hard drive. Does anyone know anyone who is a master at recovering files from evil hard drives?

my Lacie drive crashed a few weeks. i thought it was gone for good. i used a firewire 800 cord (not sure if are tried down to a usb with this drive or not) and i used a new ac adapter. it worked! but, im not sure what did it – the cord or the ac adapter. too scared to experiment. good luck.

I’ve heard the power adapter thing as well, with lacie drives. Give that a shot before you pay an expert to pull them off.

Yeah I’ve already tried replacing the cord but not the AC adapter, I’ll definitely try that. Thanks guys.
