I’ve been working on this for a little bit the past couple of weeks, I only had one day to shoot it, but I could totally see myself going all Eugene Smith on this if given more chances to get out on the lake with the shrimpers. The article and my photo project came out today. Three photos from this ran on the front page, I’m a bit proud of it but I’d still like some feedback in case I do get to go out and do some more shooting w/ them. Here’s a link to the story it ended up being like a 50 incher. And here’s a link to the photo gallery.

- The Poynter story has an animation that compares the altered photo he entered in a Bay area contest and the one he sent to the AP. http://www.poynter.org/latest- news/mediawire/161983/sacramen to-bee-fires-bryan-patrick-for -photo-manipulation/ His manipulations seem so minor, it begs the question, why do it at all? I guess he did win an award with the fire photo but I wonder how much the slightly bigger flames impacted the judges decision?
— Jud Burkett on Ethics 101 - They just fired him. The found two other manipulated photos, one that made the paper and one that was altered for a contest.
— Trent Nelson on Ethics 101 - I agree Trent, this is very sad. We have to have truth and accuracy on our side. If we don’t, we have nothing.
— scott winterton on Ethics 101 - Nice frames, Brian
— Trent Nelson on Wide Angle Weber - Thanks Trent for taking the time to help everybody out!
— Nathan Sweet on Utah Gymnastics Photo Info - This is a sad story, seeing such a talented photographer go down in flames. So far he’s suspended, but really, do you come back from this? Hopefully there aren’t more fakes in his files to be uncovered.
— Trent Nelson on Ethics 101 - Yes, same one that was in my other photo as well. And Grayson’s.
— Erik Daenitz on Day & Night - Was there an earthquake?
