Gotta love it when a news photo is blurred intentionally. In this case, on KSL’s site. I can think of a bunch of reasons why they did this but I can’t agree with any of them.

- The Poynter story has an animation that compares the altered photo he entered in a Bay area contest and the one he sent to the AP. http://www.poynter.org/latest- news/mediawire/161983/sacramen to-bee-fires-bryan-patrick-for -photo-manipulation/ His manipulations seem so minor, it begs the question, why do it at all? I guess he did win an award with the fire photo but I wonder how much the slightly bigger flames impacted the judges decision?
