CAPITOL INVERSION
In this photo combining four images taken roughly a month apart one can see the dramatic difference between a day with deep inversion (right; Dec 20th, 2009) and a day just after a snowstorm passed through the valley (left; Jan 30th, 2010).
Left: Jan. 30, 2010: After a small snowstorm, the air has been cleaned.
Right: Dec 20, 2009: Even standing between 100 South and 200 South on State Street, one could barely make out the State Capitol through the thick combination of inversion and fog at 10:30am.
