We’re Doing Great, But If You Want To Help

After the site went down last week for going over our bandwidth cap, a bunch of you offered to help support the site in one way or another. That is much appreciated.

If you’re down with the cause, here are two ways you can help:

1. Size down your photos. No need to upload files that are thousands of pixels wide. Size them down to 700 pixels across and save them at JPEG 5. That will help us significantly.

2. Donate. We’re not desperate for donations but a lot of you have offered them up. We’ve added a donate button into the sidebar for anyone interested. Again, we’re not begging. All donated funds will go to UtahPJ.Com purposes only, notably bandwidth costs and contest prizes.

Let me repeat: There is no pressing need for donations. But we will put them to good use if you want to send them.

  1. Yeah, the last two posts I’ve made have linked the images to Flickr to let them do all the heavy lifting. If we outsource all of our photographs to pull links from our own servers or services like Flickr, we should be OK. Also donations for hosting costs are more than appropriate.

  2. Yeah, the contest is the only thing that outside hosting would affect. But it’s not a big deal, we will just pull images off when we assemble the contest (just like we did this morning). I host all my blog photos on google’s picassa web albums, which is free.

And donations will go directly to hosting first and other UtahPJ projects second. All for the benefit and enjoyment of the community.
