Well my 1D Mark II circa 2004 might be toast, the shutter gave out in the middle of a soccer game today. My paper has been on the list with Pictureline for about 2 months for a new Mark IV but unfortunately our name hasn’t been called yet. Until our name is called I’m stuck with a 30D, a holga or getting the shutter repaired on the Mark II. I’m wondering if anyone has had this problem before and got it fixed and if there’s anyone locally that fixes this sort of thing fast- I’m scheduled to shoot a baseball and softball tournament this weekend and I don’t think the holga is up for it.

You’re just trying to be artsy! Don’t lie! Ha! I been ordering cameras fro
a shop in Baltimore. He may have the Canon you want. He had my D3S a week after they came out. Drop me an email.
Maegan, Canon will repair/replace the shutter mechanism and get it back to you within a week. I had them do a shutter replacement on a 20d some time ago and was very pleased with the quality and speed of the service. Ask Pictureline to take care of it for you.
You can join Canon Professional Services instantly, for free, at this link: http://www.usa.canon.com/cps
Then you will get quick turnaround repairs
Shutters are a pretty quick repair, around $350 or so if I remember right.
Thanks guys, I’ve dealt w/ the Canon repair services before, they’re fast but I was hoping to find someone in town who would be able to fix it in an afternoon in SLC- unrealistic expectations I know.
Patrick- after editing I think the broken shutter could be the new artsy thing. http://bit.ly/9XeFoE pictorial entry for 2010 for sho.
