
(I didn’t have any sort of press pass and I figured security wasn’t about to let me wander the isles looking for a good vantage point, so this is shot straight from where I was sitting.)
Gen. Petraeus spoke for about 15 minutes about Central Command and what he does there. After that the floor was opened up for questions from the audience.
The event was interesting, but I was hoping for a little more. It consisted mostly of poly sci majors with too much knowledge asking drawn out questions that didn’t pertain to his command.
His top ten list about why Mormons make great solders was met with thunderous laughter though. No doubt that those jokes didn’t make any sense to a general who didn’t grow up in Utah.
