Remember when you were kid, using chalk to draw stick figure cats on your driveway?

Esdee Cushing, at bottom, and Danie Tolman work on "Weeping Woman" as students use sidewalk chalk to recreate Picasso works during "Chalk of the Walk" at Alta High School in Sandy, Utah on Monday, May 17, 2010. T.J. Kirkpatrick / Deseret News

About T.J. Kirkpatrick
I am a photojournalist currently interning at the Deseret News. I recently completed an internship with the VII Photo Agency in New York, following several months of freelance work for the Associated Press in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
A California native, I earned a B.S. in photojournalism from Boston University. I've worked at the Waterbury, Connecticut, Republican-American and interned at the Newport Daily News in Newport, Rhode Island, the Cox Newspapers Washington Bureau in Washington, D.C. and at the Harvard University News Office.
I enjoy meeting people and sharing their stories. I'm interested in leveraging the power of photography to help humanitarian causes and spark social and economic development. When I'm not behind a camera, I can be found darting through city traffic on a fixed gear bicycle or experimenting in the kitchen.
