Football !!!

It’s back.

Yes!

It was fun to get back into shooting football again last night. The game I was assigned to was a great one. An emotional game at Cottonwood against Alta. The game was tied 21-21 late in the fourth quarter. 

The beautiful early-season light was long gone when the dramatics started. I got lots of exercise running back and forth across  the field to cover the two teams as they reacted to late leads.

I was all set up to watch for reactions on the faces of the Alta players to what would have been a game-clinching field goal attempt late in the game. They led 21-14 at the time. The attempt was blocked as I focused on the Alta QB and his team mates, when I heard them whisper “Oh my Hell!….” so I turned around and managed to squeeze off this frame (at 1/40th) of Cottonwood returning the block for the tying score. Lucky.

Then, the Colts pull off another stunner when DB Kami Sofele intercepts a pass and returns it for the game wining score, and the bedlam (fun) begins.

Wow – fun start to what looks like a great year.

Beats the heck out of covering practices.
