October 30th 2010, I am standing on the North end of football field during the UofU Airforce game and see Chris Detrick (I believe it was Chris, if not, anyone remember who?) kneeling down holding this. I think everyone on that side of the field cried a little bit, at least on the inside.
Note that the ring that is normally attached to the body (which the lens mounts to) is still attached to the lens.

If it is Chris, lemme know if you want a replacement. That looks like a Mk II or III and I’ve got a pristine Mk III for sale. Mike Terry has first dibbs on it, but if he does not want it, you could be next in line.

Goodness! How does that happen? Was he shooting handheld with a 400mm without supporting the lens? I worry about this happening with the larger lenses sometimes.
