Officers Down

I just wanted to share some images from the scene and aftermath of the six police officers who were shot while serving a warrant in Ogden Wednesday night. Photos from the crime scene, press conferences, vigil on my blog:

Shki

So…I never photograph skiing, because I don’t ski, and the other staffers ski, so…well you know. But I did my best at ski features up at Snowbasin today. Enjoy. Yes I posted all of these because of Trent. Yep.

Tebowing…and stuff.

Well, since there are only a few days left, here are some photos…

Yes, I went there. Nick Vigil, the Standard-Examiner’s football MVP, said his favorite NFL team is the Denver Broncos. “I like Tim Tebow,” he told me. “I’m a big fan of him.” This just seemed natural. I already mentioned to Patrick Smith and Chris Detrick that they’re partially to blame for this.

Fremont High School football player Nick Vigil does his best Tim Tebow impression on the football field at Fremont in Plain City Friday, Dec. 23, 2011. Vigil is the Standard-Examiner All-Area MVP and has a full ride scholarship to play for Utah State University next year.

Sgt. Chris Bitton of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office gets a smooch from his Belgian Malinois police dog, Radar, at a park in West Haven on their last day of work. After 20 years with Weber County, Bitton is leaving to work for the UTA police. Radar, who is 10 years old and primarily became a narcotics dog after losing his canines, will retire to Bitton’s backyard.

Friends and family gathered outside the memorial service for Alexis Rasmussen, 16, at the North Ogden LDS Stake Center. She was missing for more than a month before she was discovered dead Oct. 17, buried near Interstate 84 in Morgan County. A few hundred people attended her funeral and yellow balloons, some with person messages written on them, were released after the service.
