From a bunch of twitter accounts it looks like two people at least have been let go at the Tribune. Not sure who or what department or how many are yet to come. Any Trib people know anything?
I found it on Ben Winslow’s twitter that has links to a bunch of Tribune employees talking about it: http://twitter.com/benwinslow

Doug Pizac posted some good advice over on sportsshooter today…

And by the way can we go back to the old commenting system? I’m not on Facebook.
** UPDATE – RESPONSE BY DOUG ADDED BY TRENT…
I need to comment/clarify on what Hamilton has posted — a snippet –
which is out of context and could therefore be viewed differently than what
was intended without knowing the whole story. A photographer queried others
on SportsShooter about shooting an event for a company and having to deal
with photographers hired by politicians who have their own agendas. I, and
others, gave advice and techniques to insure that his duties as the official
photographer can be realized. My use of the word subservient was not meant
to be demeaning, but to show there is a pecking order — the same we all
experience at various events. At Jazz games we are subservient to the
interests of the team photographer; during RSL games the team and stadium
photographers have vests that give them special access we regular shooters
don’t have; during presidential visits we are second class shooters to the
White House photographer; during other events some entities have more pull
than others because who they represent; look at all the events where TV is
top dog over still shooters; and so on. It’s all part of the business and
what I said was to simply explain how the business works and not demean
anyone.
Erik, you said you thought you “recognized one of Paul’s recent posts as the work of another local photographer.”
This seems very curious, as I don’t see the style of any photographer in the photo. It has no style at all.
That got me thinking. I copied the photo onto my computer and pulled up the file info. Look what I found. Erik, why is your name listed as the Author?
Maybe I should be asking Paul that question but I’m more likely to get an answer from you. It’s no PhotoShop trickery on my part. Anyone can check the photo.
So are we any closer to figuring this out? Is Trent behind Paul Macally? Is Erik behind Paul Macally? Someone else? Or is Paul Macally screwing around with the metadata of the photos he/she posts?
I need some ice cream.
Calling out Mr. UVU – Paul Macally, what’s your response to the article in today’s Tribune?
Here’s a snippet:
This standard measure of student success calculates schools’ share of first-time, full-time students who graduate within six years.
UVU’s rate is 18 percent for such students who entered in 2003, according to Department of Education data. For student-athletes in that group, UVU is dead last among NCAA’s 335 Division 1 schools. Just 31 percent graduated, far below the national average of 79 percent, according to the athletics association.
The previous year’s overall rate, 15 percent, earned UVU a spot on Washington Monthly’s list of “dropout factories” last summer, causing much heartburn for Linda Makin, the school’s planning and budget director.
