Santa Claus: The Dude Behind the Beard

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Over the past couple of weeks I have been hanging out with Mike Reddish, a man from Clinton, UT who has been channeling Santa Claus for nearly a decade and a half. It’s my last story in the Beehive for now, as I am leaving the Standard-Examiner a little early and headed back to California to see friends/family and shoot photos/video on a story about medical marijuana in the Bay Area.

After that I will be moving with my lovely girlfriend to Northeast Wyoming, and starting another six-month internship with The Gillette News-Record. Seems that Northern Utah was only training grounds for cold weather! But I’m on board for wherever this voyage called photojournalism takes me.

Thanks to all the Utah PJs out there who have been so warm and welcoming over the past six months, y’all are a great group of colleagues who I will not soon forget.

Have a safe & prosperous New Year!

Interning in O-town…

Hello all,

Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone…I’m the new intern at the Standard-Examiner in Ogden, and will be here at least until the end of January 2010. I recently finished my undergraduate studies in the Journalism department at San Francisco State University with an emphasis in documentary photojournalism and a minor in psychology.

My first two weeks have been pretty awesome, although it has been a bit of an adjustment from living in San Francisco. Still getting used to this whole paycheck thing as well, but I like the idea much more than chasing down payment on invoices from lacksidasical freelance clients.

I’m very much looking forward to the rest of my time here, and hope to meet everyone eventually!

Happy Shooting!
