Since 2012 started I’ve been working on a personal project following the Red Rocks Gymnastics team at the University of Utah through their 2012 season. Photographing them through their practice, trainings, physical therapy and meets. Today I launched the website for the project at www.thegymnasticsproject.com

“My goal in photography is to capture the movement of sports. The Gymnastics Project focuses on the gymnastics sport while telling the story of the Red Rocks team and their dedication to the sport. This is an ongoing project throughout the 2012 season. With a documentary approach, the project gives you an inside view into Division 1 college gymnastics at the University of Utah.” – Nathan Sweet

Noticed last week in the Tribune Trent Nelson had a photo of one Ute fan remaining in the stands as the Ute’s football team lost against Washington. Nice shot Trent, here is my version of the idea.

Really excited to start shooting sporting events in the Huntsman Center at The University of Utah. The Huntsman Center might have the worst lighting, color shift, recycle time in the Pac-12.

After leaving the gym I saw smoke in the sky and headed to the hill top off of 12300 South by the Walmart. To Check out more images go to The Daily Utah Chronicle.
