Photographing Chris Peddecord

Had a great time a while back catching up with former Daily Chronicle photographer (and friend) Chris Peddecord. Here’s today’s story on his dance photography…

A Utah-trained photographer who shoots dancers — and movement — with experienced eyes | The Salt Lake Tribune

Dancers in Chris Peddecord’s photographs look as if they have been suspended in air. The effect is so dramatic that viewers might be tempted to look for evidence of digital alterations, which they won’t find.

In fact, Peddecord doesn’t alter, enhance or retouch his photographs, and mostly shoots his subjects from 20 or 30 feet away. “The last thing I want is for people to look at the photo of a dancer and wonder about me or my technique as a photographer,” Peddecord said. “What you see is what has actually occurred in the studio. It is all in the preparation.”

Tribune Blog Moved, 2012 Project

I’m changing things around with content I’m producing this year, starting with moving my Salt Lake Tribune Fly on the Wall blog to a new server. You can now find it here…

trent.sltrib.com

I’ll be posting a photo there from every single Tribune assignment I do in 2012. You can expect both brilliance and shocking mediocrity. There will be posts where I find it incredibly hard hit the publish button, but that’s the reason for posting every assignment— to force myself to play hard every time out of the gate.

Any old SD Cards laying around?

My wife is a high school teacher and is doing a project with flip video cams. She is in need of any extra SD cards anyone might not need. Looking for 128MB, 512MB, you know, the kind you might have in a drawer that aren’t being used. Let me know if you’ve got any you’d be willing to donate. trenthead@gmail.com
thanks,
trent

Erin had to find her own approach the subject: “MMA is male-dominated and testosterone-driven, so part of the challenge for me as a woman has been accessing everything beyond the cage and tapping into the fighter psyche. What drives one to train for months, perfecting body and mind, only to step into the ring to punch, kick and choke an opponent into submission or risk pain, injury and humiliation?”

Sun Bowl Photo Work Room

The photo is funny by itself, but keep in mind the only way I could get in and out was by making my way through all of these shooters to the door at top right.
