Learning Video – Apt Album Promo Shorts

A friend approached me to help him make a few promo videos for the release of his new album. Here are the videos & I wrote about the experience making of them here.

Watch it, let me know what you think could be better and what you like.

*Fun Fact: The black & white conversion was done in Lightroom 4 Beta. Has anyone tried that yet?

Doing a little dragging

Sometimes I liked to play around a bit with my sports coverage. I think I did ok on this one. What do you think? For a few plays I really slowed down the shutter and panned with the action.

I despise cheerleaders …

Anyone that has spent time with me on sidelines and baselines during high school, college or professional sporting events knows of my absolute aversion to cheerleaders.

I have never understood their role in sports and will never comprehend why so much make-up and perfume has to be involved.

So with that said, I was really annoyed when the BYU cheerleaders stepped in front of my photo position during free throws … but I was surprised when I was actually able to make a frame during the annoyance.

Vakapuna

The ball is sent flying as Utah's senior running back Tauni Vakapuna (#24) is hit by Colorado's Anthony Perkins (#7) and Ray Polk (#26). The ball was caught and run out of bounds by Colorado's Curtis Cunningham (#50) resulting in a turnover. © 2011 Jeff McGrath / Daily Utah Chronicle

What do you guys think about this crop?

I was going back and forth between cropping at #26′s thighs and #7′s (his) right thigh, versus how I cropped it above. I currently have it at their shins because I felt that the angle of their bodies (and legs) contributed to the motion and temporary state of the picture. Thoughts? The frame is much larger originally.
