Not bad, for a word herder

I’m a writer by training, not a photographer. But working at a small weekly paper means that if you want art for your stories, you better learn to use a camera. I captured this image during last week’s Duchesne County Fair Rodeo and figured I’d make it my first contribution to this site. Look forward to any comments or critiques.

Rituals

This year, I’ve been more interested in the pre-ride rodeo rituals than the actual ride. These are two shots from tonight at the Kamas Fiesta Days Rodeo. The second one is another take on the pre-ride prayer photo, somewhat similar to one I threw on here a few months ago.

Money Cow

While mutton busting continues to be the most popular form of legal child abuse, a few times a year the money cow appears at rodeos too. This was the 8 and under group, parents aren’t allowed out to ‘help’ there kids chase the cow but this year one snuck through. Which got me thinking that this would probably be the most entertaining adult event at a rodeo.

Rodeo

Seems like the high school rodeo championships are a spring tradition everybody covers. Here’s two photos from this morning in Heber.
