Pete Carmody hikes the Scott’s Bowl ridgeline for some earn-your-turns powder skiing on Sunday afternoon at Park City Mountain Resort. All three local mountain resorts closed for the ski season on Sunday after a winter of here-and-there snowfall.
A Park City Mountain Resort snowmaking team checks on a snow gun along the route of PayDay Lift, an important lift that carries skiers and snowboarders onto the mountain from the Resort Center. The dry weather has forced resorts to make snow longer into the season than is typical.
So…I never photograph skiing, because I don’t ski, and the other staffers ski, so…well you know. But I did my best at ski features up at Snowbasin today. Enjoy. Yes I posted all of these because of Trent. Yep.

Jeret “Speedy” Peterson has been on my mind this last week. I didn’t know Speedy personally, but I had the pleasure to photograph him in many competitions throughout his amazing career. It’s tragic to lose such a talented athlete and overall nice person to suicide. Speedy would have turned 30 Monday, 12.12.11.

Adaptive ski racers from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Iceland, Japan and New Zealand participating in the 2010 Huntsman Cup ski races at Park City Mountain Resort last week. The races hosted by the National Ability Center, vied skiers of all abilities against each other preparing for the Paralympic Winter Games will get started the second weekend in March.
